Can I conceal fix Scyon™ Linea™ cladding in all scenarios?
Face fixing is required at corners, around openings, and on the top and bottom plate when used in bracing. Face fixing may also be required where appropriate to ensure the overlapping board is flat against the underside board.
Which sealant should I use when installing Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
James Hardie Polyurethane Joint Sealant is the preferred sealant, however an equivalent sealant may be used as long as it is a paintable polyurethane. This sealant can also be used on mitres.
What can I use as a starter strip with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
Scyon™ Linea™ cladding can be cut down into strips and used, or a strip of H3 treated pine is also suitable. Alternatively off-cuts of fibre cement (eg HardiTex) can also be used.
What equipment can I use to achieve a mitre join with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
A compound drop saw fitted with the appropriate HardiBlade® Saw blade is the recommended equipment for all cutting tasks. Hitachi and Makita make these saws with 10” and 12” blades.
How do I paint the aluminium corner accessories used with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
These accessories are coated with a chromatic wash. It is best to apply an epoxy based prep coat, and then 2 coats of a suitable quality exterior grade paint as per the recommendations of the painting manufacturer. Dulux, Taubmans and Wattyl are our major alliances.
Why does ‘board gapping’ occur with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding, and how do I fix this?
Board gapping can be a direct result of frame inaccuracy. The appearance of board gapping can be reduced by face nailing at gap, or applying James Hardie Joint Sealant into the gap.
How do I paint the aluminium extrusions for windows used with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
These accessories are powder coated. It is best to apply an expoxy based prep coat, and then 2 coats of quality exterior grade paint as per the recommendations of the painting manufacturer. Dulux, Taubmans and Wattyl are our major alliances.
When joining Scyon™ Linea™ cladding off stud, is there a minimum distance the join should take place from the stud?
Yes, 100mm is the minimum distance. Any closer jointing may lead to the stud inducing peaking on the join.
What is the preferred cutting (saw) blade to use with Scyon™ Linea™ cladding?
The HardiBlade has been specifically developed for use with fibre cement.
Can Scyon™ Linea™ cladding be used as bracing?
Yes, please consult the technical manual for further information.
